Moray firm wins big golf contract
A MORAY business has been awarded a three-year contract to provide the backbone communications
infrastructure for one of the most prestigious golfing events in Europe.

Telecoms company NetDatatel will supply high speed broadband capable of carrying words and pictures across the globe, for the Scottish Open, which will be held this year at Castle Stuart links
in Inverness-shire.

Steward Macdonald, chief executive officer and operations director for the company said the five-figure contract was large for a company operating in the north of Scotland.

"This is really superb," he said.
"A contract like this is big in the Scottish Highlands business community. There was a lot of competition across the UK to secure this contract. That Castle Stuart had the confidence to award
us this, is good for us, good for the Highlands and good for Scotland."

The competition, which will take place from July 7-10, is expected to attract some of the world's top
golfers with a prize fund of £3 million. Castle Stuart only opened last year and hosting
the Scottish Open is a major coup for the area.

The event's £3m prize fund is one of the richest on the European tour; has been held at Loch
Lomond since 1995.
